This passage offers lots of scope for a discussion of “face” elements in the conversation, aside from the use of taboo for various effects. Consider a focus on the way that the argument develops (or doesn’t) between the characters involved. Are there clear contrasts between similar situations involving the two chefs? I’d use similar situations if you can find them so that contrasts can be discussed effectively.
